hello!

I’m Anabelle Rottman, a self-taught children’s book author and illustrator based in Los Angeles.

Since I was a kid and first got my little hands on a picture book, I’ve been a believer in stories. Now grown up, that belief runs deep as a passion for storytelling, immersive illustration, and magic in the most figurative sense of the word. I can think of nothing quite as fulfilling as writing and illustrating children’s books that celebrate the charm of our weird, wonderful world.

My art is inspired by a myriad of things, including:

  • Travel! I’m fascinated with how adventuring in new places brings you closer to yourself.

  • Music & Film! I especially like my songs from the 80s and my movies from the 90s.

  • Conversations I have with the kiddos I teach dance! They’re treasure troves of wit and wisdom.
